2 1/2 to 3 1/2

In this room the focus is on building on the milestones a two year old has achieved and focusing on the rapidly expanding world a 2 1/2-3 1/2 year experiences.  Some of those milestones include co-playing with friends, potty training and independent play/thinking.  All activities are centered around things that are developmentally appropriate for the age. Classroom Ratios:
  • 1 adult to 8 children.
  • Maximum of 16 children in the room with 2 adults.
  kathryn-beals-photo                                    Kathryn Beals-Head Teacher: Kathryn was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She received her undergrad degree at CSU and graduate degree from DU in Social Work.  She worked as a Social Worker for 12 years in the Denver area.  Kathryn also taught Pre-K for 3 years prior to moving to Fort Collins.

Kathryn and her family moved to Fort Collins 2 years ago and are loving living here. She has 4 sons ranging from 14 years old to 7 years old.  She has been married to her husband for 19 years.  In their spare time they love going out and listening to live music, running in the foothills and playing board games with the kids.  Kathryn attends church here at First United Methodist Church.

                                      Charlene Selken-Assistant Teacher:  Charlene is a Colorado native, born in Grphoto (24) chareeley. She graduated from UNC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation with emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Administration. She was a Recreational Therapist for 11 years and has experience working with children and adults. Charlene is excited to be apart of the MDO program and work in the classroom. All three of her children have attended MDO and had a wonderful experience. She is looking forward to seeing each child make achievements of their own by exploring and having fun. Charlene is married and has 3 children. She is active in her children’s school and church activities. She also enjoys reading, scrap booking, camping, hiking and spending time with family and friends. She looks forward to meeting you and your child. Daily Schedule:
